We had a great time at the Business Events Leaders’ Summit and Event IT at the SEC Glasgow last week. There were lots of interesting sessions and some fantastic exhibitors, so what were our highlights?

Business Events Leaders’ Summit

We started the week at the Business Events Leaders’ summit where we sat in on various sessions from some really engaging speakers. First up was a strategic session from Amanda Ferguson, Head of Business Tourism Marketing Edinburgh, on events in Edinburgh. We’ve arranged events from Berlin to Capetown in the last year but it’s always great to fly the flag for the amazing meeting and conference facilities on our doorstep! Next we caught a session from our friends up at the new Aberdeen Conference Centre. Their fantastic new centre will be opening soon and we’re looking forward to our trip up to see them in early April. 47,000sqm of bookable space – what a dream! Finally, we caught a great session from Ian Hyland, Business & Finance Media about how Dublin has become a hub for tech events and associations. Some of our biggest clients are associations and we couldn’t have agreed more with Ian on the importance of creating a community of meaningful dialogue and that associations are so much more than just an annual conference.

Event IT

As always, we were keen to check out as many exhibitors as possible and find out the latest developments in the event world.

  • Gig to Gig UK – We often hire local staff to help out at our events so a staffing app that makes the recruitment process more efficient is something we will definitely be exploring.
  • Integrity Languages – Many of our events are held across Europe and language issues can sometime arise. We grabbed a coffee with Jonathan from Integrity Languages and will be keeping his number for any translations we need! Plus, what a wonderful choice of company name….
  • Shocklogic – We’ve been following our friends at Shocklogic about recently and caught up with them again at Event IT. Their CEO John Martinez delivered a great session on how to add value to your clients without losing the human touch. John also highlighted some free tools that are available to streamline the event planning process…our finance team were delighted!
  • Mercure Hotels – It’s always great to ‘check in’ (sorry) with hotels and make new connections. We book thousands of hotel rooms every year for delegates so it was great to learn a bit more about Mercure’s portfolio in the UK.

This week at Integrity…
