A marriage made in heaven: a hoteliers perspective Event organisers work hand-in-hand with hotel teams to ensure the best results for their client’s event on the day, but what do hoteliers really think of these clients?
Simon Williams, Chairman of Edinburgh Principal Hoteliers Association and a former hotelier himself says, ‘It is usually best to let event organisers just get on with it! They know what is required, and know their client’s preferences. A good events organiser has a vision of how they want things to operate and often knows the venue just as well as we do.’
Simon continues, ‘Having a relationship with a good event organiser is like the perfect marriage. Not only do they do the best job for the client but they also know how to integrate into the team, bringing out the best in the staff, optimising the situation for all parties. This is because they understand everyone’s needs and crucially they understand our operation, including its limitations.’
Many event organisers have a background in hotels and venue management and as a result can quickly deduce the best opportunities available for the client, and can cater for the more unusual requests.
